Move Status - UPDATE 1

Okay, Last night Flashydreams.com was migrated without a hitch.
Though, Email services are still pointing to the old host. I’m working on migrating these now.
Kimandjay jasonandkim and andersens will be migrating over the next 24 - 48 hours.

I’ll post another update as information is available.

It’s official.

flashydreams.com, kimandjay.ca, andersens.ca and jasonandkim.ca are moving to a new home at Dreamhost!

Content transfer is now underway, and the DNS and Mail services will be switched over in the next while.

New PC or World Peace? Gee I wonder…

Reference: World Peace vs. New PC

I don’t know about you, but personally, I’d be one of those who would prefer a new PC over World Peace.

Before you jump the gun and preach about how ‘unethical‘ or ‘selfish‘ it is, my reply to that is “well yea… but so what”
Why? Well it’s simple really…

World Peace, is for the barbies of the world to wish for.
World Peace is essentially the “Impossible Dream”. The only way to achieve it, is by a means no man (or woman for you feminist lot) should ever shallow to. (Although, some megalomaniacs through history have certainly put a lot of effort into their attempts…. -not mentioning any names)

A new PC on the other hand is at least a little more realistic. (if you’re like me, A new PC is close to the proverbial impossible dream, but that’s beside the point)

My computer is 4 years old, and in desperate need of a make over, or at very least a replacement altogether. I won’t be able to get it on my own, so I came up w/ a little idea to ask for a little piece of it from my family. Whether they go for it or not, is one thing, but if they do, for less than $1000, and possibly for no more than $400 I could have a system built that is up to today’s standards, and by far out performs my existing tower of hurt.

All in all, that’s a small order in comparison to “World Peace” and certainly a lot more attainable.

Short Week, Lasted Forever…

So, here’s the situation…

This last week was a “short” week due to the Thanksgiving holiday on Monday. Let me tell you though, it certainly didn’t feel like a “short” week….
These so-called “short” weeks always seem to take forever to get through, and I don’t get it!

I mean, is it just me (and I’m sure a great many others) having a pessimistic outlook on the situation?
Or maybe it’s simply the way things are? Or maybe it’s just a figment of the imagination?

Sadly, that seems viable, since time doesn’t really slow down… but it sure as heck feels like it does.

Perhaps, it is because work was a really interesting experience, given the upstream link died, and the provider’s carrier network team decided that 48 hours was acceptable as a turn around time.. (Boy, were they wrong)

We’re now looking at alternatives to our current provider, as this is just one “inconvenience” out of 4 in the last 5 months. (2 in last 3 weeks)

Anyway… I’m off for the day. Have a good one.

MySQL charset…

So, apparently, the Charset for this db, as well as the one over at kimandjay is fubar from the conversion of MySQL 4.1.x at the old host, to 5.x on my local box. I’ll have to work on that soon, but I don’t have the time now.

Frustrating, and I can only assume once I get Andersens back online, that it too will be fubar.
