colds

So, Kim is sick… and now I am too..

It all started Saturday. She started with a sore throat and it progressed from there.
When she woke up Sunday, she was feeling like crap.

By Sunday night, she couldn’t function properly. Monday was worse, she called in sick, and lay in bed all day. Though she may have gotten up once to pee. She got up in the evening for a while to watch tv, but otherwise she spent the better part of the day in bed. I brought her some lunch from Burger King, though I’m sure that was more for me than anything.

Normally, when one of us gets sick, the other person is in for a terrible attitude, whining, and general sickly crap to deal with. This time, Kim has been nice. So, now that I’m getting this damn cold, or whatever the heck it is, it’s going to be my turn to be nice for once when I’m sick.

Now, don’t quote this as any sort of admittance, however, I’ve been told that I am not exactly the most pleasant sick person.
I’ve been told I get nasty, grumpy, and irritable. (who doesn’t?)

Anyway, so as it stands today… I’m going to make my best efforts not to be nasty and grumpy. Now, as far as irritable goes, that will be tough to overcome. It’s hard not to get irritable when you have difficulty swallowing, breathing, staying at a relative temperature rather than the fluctuations from cold to hot.

I’m at work today, though I am not sure how long I’m going to last. I’m trying my best to think straight through the cloudy head, and all the coughing. I took some Buckley’s this morning too. I could not even feel it go down, that’s how nasty my throat is right now. Normally with Buckley’s there’s that overpowering feeling of a cool numbness as it slides down the esophagus. Not today though, nope, no relief for me. I have some Halls lozenges too, and I will definitely need to pick up some more tonight. Maybe some Fisherman’s Friend instead. But if they really help or not, is still up in the air.

Still though, the worst part of this is to come.

Kim progressed from the heavy chested, sore throat, to stuffy nosed (more on this ’stuffy’ bit later) and head congested over the course of Monday. So it would seem, as the cold progresses I have that to look forward to as well. Oh Happy Day! PFFFT!

Now, in reality, Neither Kim or I get sick often. I’ve never had a flu since I can remember (and I’ve NEVER had a flu shot in my entire life - based on personal memory since as early as I have any recollection). I think Kim’s had one or two shots in her life, but none recently that I recall.

What’s better is that while not ever having a flu shot, I’ve only had the Flu maybe 3 times in my 30 years and again, not since I was really young. Between us, we usually get maybe 2 or 3 colds a year combined, so when one it hits us, it tends to hit us hard. If that’s a mind thing or whatever, I don’t really know.

Anyway, moving on … about the “stuffy” note from above. Kim and I were talking about breathing when you’re sick. Now, here’s the thing, I don’t know who out there is a nose breather, or who is a mouth breather or who does both equally, but me. I am a nose breather, in through the nose, out through the nose. Kim, she’s a mouth breather, for the most part. In through the mouth, out through the mouth. She was feeling stuffed up, and could not breath through her nose. I laughed, because she’s always been a mouth breather, so it seemed odd that she was complaining about not being able to breath through her nose.
She then gave the best analogy for how she felt about it…. (for those of you not in Canada, it might be hard to understand). Here’s how it went…

Kim: “You know how when you take the 401, and you have the 7 as a backup?”
Jay: “Yep”
Kim: “Well, that’s how I feel about breathing through my nose. It’s my backup route”

Now you might not find that funny, but I sure as hell did. It really was the best analogy of the situation ever.

Anyway, getting and being sick blows.

According to Facebook’s iLikeĀ® Music Quiz, I am now a “Music Expert”…
What an Addicting Game, Curse you Facebook! Curse you Tracy Tracie for getting me addicted to the game.

Anyway, Following that I decided since I’m getting things underway again with Flashydreams, I would actually get the ol’ Music Stream running again.

Enjoy!

Move Status - UPDATE 3

Okay, so kimandjay, and flashydreams, and andersens have all been migrated.
I’d like to say w/o a hitch, however, the andersens site seems to have some MySQL related issues w/ the theme that is currently installed.

I’m not sure when they started, but I am not able to correct it in the actual theme. I will change the theme up shortly and get it back to normal.

Kimandjay.ca and flashydreams.com will undergo a face lift of sorts over the next while.
kimandjay.ca is currently fronted w/ a Wordpress blog, however, the original premise of the site is now over, and I’m really not sure where to go w/ it. Kim doesn’t seem to be interested in the upkeep now, so perhaps I’ll default it to the Gallery only, and reface that.

If I do that, I’ll likely migrate the blog posts from there, over here at flashydreams, in one fashion or other to ensure they’re not lost in the shuffle.

I’m still in the hunt for a decent theme for the flashydreams site, and now that I need to reface the andersens site, this job isn’t any simpler.

Wish me Luck.

Jason
